TRANSPORTATION
APB
Transportation specializes in providing a truck and a man for the day for
the exclusive use of shippers, as well as common carriage of shipments of
1,500 to 18,000 pounds. We aim to achieve the highest efficiency using
the straight truck to ship less-than-truckload freight ("LTL")
direct. The tag line on our trucks, "Straight to the Point"
defines what we do with a triple meaning: unlike most LTL companies, we ship
direct, not via a hub and spoke system; we run straight trucks; and we deal
straight.
We
especially aim to serve shippers who require excellent service. This is
usually the case with scheduled shipments between manufacturers and for
construction crews. Therefore, we have equipped our trucks with lift
gates, logistic track and straps, and air ride suspensions. We also offer
blanket service, labor, and warehousing.
Our
success demonstrates that direct shipping on straight trucks is an effective
way to move LTL in a 200 mile radius. The advantages of direct shipping in
this radius more than outweigh the concentration advantage of hub and spoke
shipping. Direct shipping eliminates (1) the cost of and potential damage
from moving goods in warehouses between trucks, (2) freight getting on the
wrong truck, and (3) separation of pieces of the same shipment.
WAREHOUSING
APB’s
warehouse facility allows us to meet a wide variety of distribution and
logistics challenges. We can serve as your distribution center for shipments
carried on our trucks or by others. We provide secure, short-term or
long-term warehousing as well as pick-n-pack services allowing customers to
maintain a portion of their inventory at our facility.
Our
warehousing facility is adjacent to our brand new corporate offices recently
renovated expressly for the secure storage and distribution of our
clients’ materials. At the same location our sister company, APB Archives,
offers records management and computerized inventory tracking onsite, along
with document destruction services. The facility is fully sprinklered,
alarmed, staffed, under video surveillance 24/7, and within two miles of
police and fire response centers.
INTERNATIONAL
SERVICES
We provide inland transportation
between the northeast U.S. ports of Newark, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, and Baltimore MD and our
warehouse or your consignor(ee). For less-than-container shipments, we
can provide consolidation of export containers from the northeast U.S. and break-down
of import containers to the northeast U.S. Philadelphia is centrally
located within a one day truck trip of the following cities: Boston,
Providence, New Haven, New York, Albany, Newark, Camden, York-Harrisburg,
Wilkes Barre-Scranton, Wilmington, Baltimore, Arlington-Washington DC and
Richmond, a geographical area comprising approximately 30% of the U.S.
population.
